Testimonials

from Doctors and Professionals:

I have been very happy with the care my mother has received at Sidmouth Care Home. The staff are so kind, professional and hard working. I am very grateful to them.’  Nicola Brook, 2023

“My comments are a reflection of my thirty years as a full-time GP in Sidmouth and observing the exemplary care that my mother received in the last seven years of her life. She arrived at the home with severe dementia and at times could be highly challenging to manage, but the staff who always remained calm, supportive and caring, transformed her into a state of peace. I could name so many but Easter, Sherin, Vinu, Anitha and Monica are just some of the amazing nurses my mother and myself were privileged to encounter. She really had exemplary care through her dementia and I am sincerely grateful.”

“The professionalism and knowledge of staff, for example Vinu and Sherin is exceptional.”

“One of the best nursing homes I visit in terms of care and staff standards.”

“Your staff are all fabulous. The love, care, attention and respect given to my mother is simply outstanding. I truly could not wish for a better place for her to be. Your nurses, carers, kitchen staff, maintenance – they are all wonderful. It is such a happy environment.”

“Your staff are all fabulous.”

“You have an amazing team. “

The Sidmouth Nursing Home is a very caring and kind environment to be in. My mother had a very difficult time in a previous nursing home and I was very nervous about moving her to Sidmouth Nursing Home. But my mother and I are so glad we made the move, she is now well looked after. Sidmouth Nursing Home is an organised and very well-run home, and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. The staff are lovely, and the environment is clean. My mother has been there for over 2 months now and they all look after her and me. The manager is great and very supportive and I thank them all.

from Recent Thank You Letters:

Thank you all for taking good care of Jenny since last September.

When she left Wonford Hospital I was told she only had a few weeks to live, but due to your good care I was given an extra eight precious months with my lovely Jenny.

“I wanted to say a huge thank you to you all for your help in making Mum’s last few months so much more comfortable.”

“Mum could not have been in more gentle and caring hands during her final years with you. To have stayed with you for over seven years is testament to her wonderful care.”

Thank you to all the team. From the skypes, I could see that her clothes were clean and Mum had a contented look about her. I was so pleased to know that you were doing what I could not do during lockdown – providing friendship to my mother.”

“Thank you to ALL your staff. They are always an absolute joy to see and the happiness they bring to me in such sad circumstances is immeasurable. You have an impressive, outstanding team there and have created a deeply caring home. “

“Thank you so much for all the loving care and attention you gave to my grandad.”

“I can’t tell you what a comfort it is to know that she is being cared for by such a great bunch of people.”

“I wanted to let you know how pleased we were with the exceptional care that was provided to my wife and extended to our family during her time in your care. We were instantly impressed by the professionalism shown. From the first day in your care, every family member who visited, commented on how good the care was and how friendly the staff were.”

“Sidmouth Nursing Home restored Mum to a contented smiling lady who enjoyed life and relationships with all the staff members. To them we owe a huge debt of gratitude for their love and care and a truly dignified attitude to her later years. They embraced her and us into their family and restored her to her former self.”

“What could have been an anxious time has actually been a pleasure for my Aunt who was transformed when she arrived at the Home.”

“I will never forget the love and care you gave my father and that you are now continuing with my step-mother . It really is something you cannot put a value on.”

A Relative’s Story

My dear -loved Next of Kin was a resident of Sidmouth Nursing Home from September ‘22 until March ‘23. Unfortunately, when he was transferred to the Home from hospital, he was already in a very poor state of health. He had extremely complex and varied health needs and a, sometimes, challenging manner. All this was met with professionalism, care, consistency, kindness, respect and humour.

Sadly, I lived many miles away from him and was only able to visit on 2 occasions, but I was made most welcome both times. I was able to speak with staff on a one to one basis, about his care and any plans put in place.

I was always, as Next of Kin, kept fully informed and consulted about his condition ( not always the case in all Care Homes, as I know, from past experience)

When the sad inevitable happened and we lost him on March, I was reassured that everything that could possibly have been done to help him, had been done. I am aware that staff were also upset at his loss.

Knowing that he was safe and in the best hands for those few months brought him (and me) great peace of mind and I shall always be grateful.
